Jūrmala is a coastal gem that effortlessly blends nature and elegance. The pristine beaches are a paradise for relaxation, while the charming wooden architecture adds a touch of whimsy to the town. With its vibrant cultural scene and welcoming atmosphere, Jurmala is a must-visit destination that captivates both the adventurous and those seeking a serene escape.

Lots of food and shopping on Jurmala street, but the whole area is very large so renting bikes or having a car is very important.
Summer would be much nicer but the autumn was very quiet and there were no crowds anywhere.

Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia.
Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia. The kilometeres long beach side just 20-30 minutes from Riga, easy to reach both by car and by train. First things to visit are most likely Majori, Dzintari and shopping/walking street that connects both of those places (which also stands for train stops when you buy train tickets). But also Bulduri and Dubulti are good areas to visit, especially if you are a fan of architecture - Jurmala has its own unique style of wooden architecture houses, some of them have been reconstructed and can be perfectly seen between streets (Morbergs summer house is the best example of this). There are plenty of good 4 and 5 star hotels in the center - with good SPA's and restaurant. The best outside restaurant could be "Line 36" - with one of the best Latvian chefs. For active attractions my best suggestion is Livu Aqua Park - inside water attractions park, one of the biggest in Baltics, quite pricey but good for a fun day, especially with kids. There are lots of nature to explore around the city, but all in all I would say that outside the summer season the city will surprise you with the pleasant calmness and fresh air.

We couldn't find anyplace where we could walk the dog on the beach. In general, I didn't get the impression that dogs are appreciated there. Our 5kg Havanese seemed too much for a beach walk in October--even on the leash.

Nice town with long beach near Riga.
Nice town with long beach near Riga. A varitey of restaurants and leisure activities are available.
Unfortunately the summer seasons ends mid of august so that as late august traveler the beaches and town seem a little like a ghost town and a lot of restaurants, activites etc. are already closed

great location, right on the beach with every possible facility available. a short walk to the shopping area where we bought souvenirs and had coffee. The hotel restaurant had an exclusive feel and the food was excellent. We will definitely return again.
Rooms are recently renovated, good breakfast included, walking distance to the beach, there are several places to eat in a walking distance, a couple of parks with playgrounds close by, beautiful wooded neighboorhood with mostly private villas, we had a spacious one-bedroom/one leaving room suite that fit two parents and two children perfectly. We had a large pull out sofa for kids (fits two) but ended up getting an extra smaller bed for free for a younger child. The price was reasonable.
Hotel good for a short stay. They accept dogs (the dog even got bowls). Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast varied (very good coffee, there is always a cake, a salad, milk soup, eggs etc.). 5 minutes walk to the beach. In the corridor a fridge and access to hot and cold drinking water. Lots of guide books in the room. There is an air conditioning. The hotel has a small garden good for children's games. There is a shop and a café in the same building. Secured parking space provided.
Jomas Street is a great place. Central street with shops, restaurants, guest houses, souvenir shops, beautiful flower beds interspersed with amazing coffee machines. 5 minutes walk to Dzintari concert hall. 7 minutes to the beach with cool bars. 6 minutes to walk to a forest park with sports attractions. Romance, Friendliness, Fun in the Pine-sea air! Cool place to relax! I love Jurmala. I love Laima randezvouz jurmala! I love Latvia!
Spacious room with all amenities. Good shower. Comfy beds. AC which also helps to warm a room when it's become colder. Beach is very close to this hotel. Perfect for longer stay also, cause it's tiny version of flat, just without a kitchen which we didn't need. Really great place to stay. Sadly we didn't have time to treat ourselves in the SPA - maybe next time :)
This is such a brilliant spot! Clean, cosy, and comfortable, with all the amenities you could possibly need. In such an idyllic location that you really feel like you’re out of the city. A short walk to the Lielupe river, or a longer walk through beautiful forest to get to the beach. The host was so lovely and welcoming, offering many helpful recommendations.
Overall I enjoyed the SPA experience the most. The pool, saunas, jacuzzi and underwater massage area were great and definitely one of the best experiences. Another excellent thing about Baltic Beach Hotel is its location - it is located exactly on the beach which is great for people who like to enjoy a beautiful walk.
Location is really good. Not that crowded as Dzintari or Majori. The beach is very close to the house, as well as food store and train station. Very comfortable bed, plenty of space for children, huge garden and sitting area. A swimming pool was a great surprise for us!
Nice apartment, great location close to main pedestrian street, beach and all major attraction in Jurmala. Gated parking, loads of outdoor space with seating area and BBQ. In the fridge you can find compliments for breakfast. Over all it was nice experience.
The hostel has a great location, just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. You can get to the busiest part of Jurmala in no time by scooter. The train station is less than 15 minutes on foot. You get what you paid for: ok kitchen, comfortable bed.
Fantatic wellness oasis area with a variety of saunas and the location is perfect. We think this is the best wellness area of all spa hotels in Jurmala.
Breakfast is healthy latvian style buffee, very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Close to the beach in the pine forest. Some rooms have balconies, where it is fun to have wine in summer. Far from Jūrmala - 7 km, but you know this in advance. SPA on the site - nothing special, but OK. Free parking.
- good breakfast with a warm dish of your choice,
- fantastic location - on the busiest street of Jurmala
- parking place right at the hotel
- comfortable bathroom with a good shower
Very nice and clean rooms. Great stay with small children. Nice breakfast and good to get to main street in Jurmala by bus. Also food shops right next to the hotel aswell cafe’s.
Very good place near the beach, pleasant employees in room service, nice room.
One of the very few hotels in Jurmala that accepts guests with dogs (not only small breeds).
The cleaning service was very efficient and attentive. Very nice spa facilities.
Probably the best hotel around, but not really a 5 star hotel by European standards.
I liked the location of the hotel the most. Other than that there wasn't much that I liked about this hotel. I guess the lobby area is spacious and feels inviting.
It had everything, including dishes, loads of towels, everything was consodered, even had a great sound system which was great for our group. Right by th beach!
Very good value for money. Spacious room, very clean. Calm location but very close to Jomas street and close to the beach. spacious parking for the car.
