Jūrmala is a coastal gem that effortlessly blends nature and elegance. The pristine beaches are a paradise for relaxation, while the charming wooden architecture adds a touch of whimsy to the town. With its vibrant cultural scene and welcoming atmosphere, Jurmala is a must-visit destination that captivates both the adventurous and those seeking a serene escape.

Lots of food and shopping on Jurmala street, but the whole area is very large so renting bikes or having a car is very important.
Summer would be much nicer but the autumn was very quiet and there were no crowds anywhere.

Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia.
Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia. The kilometeres long beach side just 20-30 minutes from Riga, easy to reach both by car and by train. First things to visit are most likely Majori, Dzintari and shopping/walking street that connects both of those places (which also stands for train stops when you buy train tickets). But also Bulduri and Dubulti are good areas to visit, especially if you are a fan of architecture - Jurmala has its own unique style of wooden architecture houses, some of them have been reconstructed and can be perfectly seen between streets (Morbergs summer house is the best example of this). There are plenty of good 4 and 5 star hotels in the center - with good SPA's and restaurant. The best outside restaurant could be "Line 36" - with one of the best Latvian chefs. For active attractions my best suggestion is Livu Aqua Park - inside water attractions park, one of the biggest in Baltics, quite pricey but good for a fun day, especially with kids. There are lots of nature to explore around the city, but all in all I would say that outside the summer season the city will surprise you with the pleasant calmness and fresh air.

We couldn't find anyplace where we could walk the dog on the beach. In general, I didn't get the impression that dogs are appreciated there. Our 5kg Havanese seemed too much for a beach walk in October--even on the leash.

Nice town with long beach near Riga.
Nice town with long beach near Riga. A varitey of restaurants and leisure activities are available.
Unfortunately the summer seasons ends mid of august so that as late august traveler the beaches and town seem a little like a ghost town and a lot of restaurants, activites etc. are already closed

great location, right on the beach with every possible facility available. a short walk to the shopping area where we bought souvenirs and had coffee. The hotel restaurant had an exclusive feel and the food was excellent. We will definitely return again.
Hotel good for a short stay. They accept dogs (the dog even got bowls). Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast varied (very good coffee, there is always a cake, a salad, milk soup, eggs etc.). 5 minutes walk to the beach. In the corridor a fridge and access to hot and cold drinking water. Lots of guide books in the room. There is an air conditioning. The hotel has a small garden good for children's games. There is a shop and a café in the same building. Secured parking space provided.
The location was spectacular, right on the main street and just blocks from the concert hall and beach. The room was quiet, and there was a lovely outdoor area for relaxing in the shade. The breakfast included a nice selection and quality of food and beverage options and took place in their comfortable onsite restaurant which has both indoor and outdoor seating. It was the perfect spot for a solo traveler looking to relax, but still have access to all the goings on.
I went to Jurmala for work and didn't want to stay in one of the luxurious hotels I was proposed, so I chose this place. The apartment is very spacious, extremely clean, in a very cute green street, just around the corner from the main big shopping / restaurant street. Well equipped. The owner was very kind :)
Probably the best place to stay in Jurmala! :) Spacious, still very cozy rooms, very clean and thought through details what you can need during the stay. Absolutely positive and very helpful staff at the reception. Location is perfect for both visiting the beach and going to the center.
Very good location, close to both walking street and the beach. Owners of the boutique hotel gave a very good service with recommendations for spa, lending out beach towels and also provide for a shower after check out time. Nice breakfast with different options for choice.
The hotel is located right next to the Jomas street and Dzintari Forest park which gives a lot of attractions for kids. The beach is also a short stroll away. We had an underground parking (free if booked advanced). Comfortable and clean facilities. Very friendly staff.
Very good location. There is everything you need. Delicious coffee with a beautiful view ;) The bed in a cone-tent was wide and comfy. Cozy spaces around - tables, hammocks. Nearby is Lielupe, which looks like a small lake. There is a place on the beach for swimming.
House location is a few minutes from the beach! Nice neighbourhood. Cozy and quite private terrace. We liked easy check in, also the host was helpful and responded to the messages quickly. Place was clean and modern. The property had a nice smell, was cozy and warm:)
Rooms are clean and beautiful. Great service as well. The location is the best in Jurmala, on the beach. I have stayed here before, and will return. Perfect also for SPA day, the treatments are very good! Loved everything! Breakfast was very nice!
The SPA area is new and fresh, with a large pool and a few jacuzzis. Clean and new changing rooms, as well as a nice sauna area. The sea and beach are only a 3-minute walk from the hotel. The city centre is far away but walkable.
It was very nice staying at Hotel Jurmala Spa. The hotel has a luxury vibe, staff were nice and friendly. We got an amazing view from the 9th floor. They also have a very nice spa, which unfortunately is closed atm due to covid.
Very spacious, modern and clean apartment close to the beach and supermarkets. Extremely welcoming and helpful hosts. Enjoyed my stay here a lot more than in a hotel in Rīga!
